The Top Four Online Designer Directories Revealed

With the advancement in social media, it is no surprise that designers have found a way to reach a wider audience through technology. These sites have collected the largest number of interior designers in their directory, making it easy for potential clients to locate which designers will be able to address their design requirements.

1. Houzz Interior Designers and Decorators. This website provides free-listing services to almost 50,000+ designers. Every month, Houzz receives 16 million unique visitors. It also incorporates Houzz App for its designer directory which has already been downloaded more than 15,000 million times.

2. American Society of Interior Designer’s (ASID) Designer Directory. The ASI directory currently has 15,500 designers on their list and acquires 7000 unique visits every month. There is no listing fee but the designer should be affiliated with ASID and pay their membership dues to be a part of the directory. For its promotion, ASID runs a campaign called “hire a designer” and is advertised in magazines such as Dwell, Elle Decor, The Robb Report and Arts and Antiques. The directory is also promoted through social media.

3. Design Connect by Dering Hall and the Hearst Design Group. Currently, the site has 406 designers in their directory. Hearst provides promotional support through full-page print ads in top interior design magazines such as Elle Decor, Veranda and House Beautiful. The website also has a home-page promotion on the websites of the abovementioned magazines. Hearts also send in emails to subscribers and maintain great visibility within the social media network. In order to be listed, designers need to pay $995 per year.

4. Remodelista’s Architect and Designer Directory. The website currently has a listing of 220 designers in their directory, all of which are exclusively invited to become members of Remodelista. The site gets 1.1 million unique monthly visits. Designers are promoted through Remodelista’s monthly column, “The Architect/Designer is In” where their projects are featured and they get to answer inquiries from interested site visitors. Aside from that, Remodelista also runs “round-ups of trends” and features 10 images, three of which come from the projects of designers who are a part of the directory.
