Google Assistant Will Read Text Messages for You and Send Messages to WhatsApp, SMS, and Facebook

The new Google Assistant will not only read the text but also send messages via SMS, Facebook, WhatsApp and other chat applications. All the user needs to do is ask if they have any messages and the AI will read back any new messages received. After reading, the user also has the option to reply to the message via the AI as well.

In the new AI of Google, users just need to say “Show me my last message” or “Do I have any messages?” and it will read any recent messages received. Then the user will be given the option to reply through SMS or any other chat services. This new feature of Google Assistant will be available to Pixel, Pixel XL smartphone and other Android smartphones with the Marshmallow update.

Other Android users can make sure they can get the new Google Assistant by updating their phone to the latest Nougat version 6.13, have a unit with 720 p resolution or better and free memory of 1.5 GB, according to Venture Beat. There is no release date yet when the new AI will be released but it is expected to be anytime soon.

Google Assistant isn’t the only AI today that can send messages to different chat services. It’s rival, Amazon Alexa is also capable of the same feature and a lot more. Users can also integrate different social media app and chat apps via IFTTT.

This new feature of Google and Amazon’s AI are said to be an upgrade so that smartphones can be used like a personalized virtual assistant. Just recently, Wall Street Journal reported that both companies are planning to further improve the capabilities of smartphones. One of it is making voice calls through smart speakers using the Google Home while Amazon uses Echo to have the feature of an intercom system.
