OnePlus 3T Nougat Takes On Samsung, Xiaomi Flagship Phones

The OnePlus 3T Nougat update just rolled in, but does this and its other features make it better than its competitors? OnePlus is known for releasing phones that have specs that are higher than what its price suggests.

The Chinese tech company is doing the same thing with their flagship model the OnePlus 3T. While OnePlus is trying to achieve the perfect blend of high-specs low-cost phones, Samsung and Xiaomi are aiming for this as well.

First of all, the OnePlus 3T Nougat update can help it compete against another similar spec model, the Xiaomi Mi Mix. According to iTechPost, there are some stark differences between the two, but it comes down to the buyer's needs.

For the OnePlus 3T pros, it has higher-resolution 16-megapixel cameras on both front and back of the phone. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi Mix only uses a high-resolution 16-megapixel camera on the back, since the front only has a 5-megapixel shooter.

As for the processor, both of these models sport a speedy Snapdragon 821 chipset. However, the OnePlus 3T has more RAM at 6GB, while the Xiaomi Mi Mix comes in at 4GB.

Now for the cons, the OnePlus 3T has a lower internal storage at just 64GB, while the Mi Mix has a hefty 128GB storage. The 3400mAh battery of the 3T also pales in comparison to the Mi Mix's chunky 4400mAh juice. Of course, the Mi Mix certainly has the better display, with its crisp and wide bezel-less 6.4 inch LCD screen.

The recent OnePlus 3T Nougat update will also help it against its third competitor, the Samsung Galaxy A5. According to TNHonline, the OnePlus 3T has a bigger 5.5 inch screen compared to the A5's 5.2 inches.

Although the Galaxy A5 has the smallest RAM and battery among the three phones, with a meager 3GB memory and 3000mAh pack. However, the A5 makes up for that with its speedy Exynos 7880 chip. One of the biggest disadvantages of the OnePlus 3T and Xiaomi Mi Mix, however, is its non-expandable storage.

While the Samsung Galaxy A5 only has 32GB internal storage, it can be expanded by up to 256GB. For usability and longevity, the A5 can hold its own, while for style and sophistication, the Xiaomi Mi Mix is the best bet. Overall, the middle ground for both form and functionality goes to the OnePlus 3T, blending a perfect balance of power and finesse.
