Planning to Redesign your Home? Take Interior Design Therapy First!

In Carmel, a new business has emerged wherein clients can see a therapist prior to redesigning their home. This business was conceptualized by Angie Jakad Fischer who provides a different perspective when it comes to seeking interior design advice.

Fischer said, “Interior Design Therapy is an immediate, attainable and affordable solution for those people who need the advice and resources of a professional, but they don’t necessarily want to hire a designer for a long period of time or for their entire project.”

According to Fischer, the idea came up to her after several years of experience working in the Midwest and on the East Coast. She found out that clients are usually motivated by personal or psychological reasons when it comes to redesigning their homes. Fischer tries to dig deeper into these reasons to help her provide sound design direction to her clients.

Fischer said that a lot of millennials or Gen Y are driving the market as they start acquiring their own homes. However, being independent, this new breed are more inclined to do it by themselves by following what they’ve seen on websites and home improvement shows. The one thing that Fischer noticed though is that they still want the guidance of a professional but are not too keen on committing hiring a full-time designer and this is where her business comes in.

“I created this concept with the everyday person in mind,” she said. “We all have design questions we want to throw at somebody – and I want to be that somebody who is accessible, knowledgeable and within an hour provide clients with a plan that they can execute.”

A one-on-one consultation with Fischer usually lasts for about an hour and clients leave her “couch” with a prescription on how they can go through their design dilemmas and kickstart their home improvement projects.

Fischer offers Interior Design Therapy at the Indiana Design Center at 200 South Range Line Road, Suite 218, Carmel.
