The BT Tower, a renowned architectural feature, was bought by MCR Hotels, an American hotelier, on February 21st, 2024. Situated at the center of Fitzrovia, this beautiful grade II listed edifice has always represented a significant part of London's historical past. The Post Office Tower was its first name when it was ready in 1964; however, it was later relabeled as British Telecommunications Tower. Plans are underway to rewrite the history and bring new meaning to this building after MCR Hotels acquires it.
Towering Achievement
Standing proudly at 177 meters upon its completion, the BT Tower was London's tallest structure until it was surpassed by the NatWest Tower in 1980. Its distinctive form was designed to house microwave aerials, facilitating telecommunications traffic between London and the rest of the UK. Moreover, the tower boasted additional attractions such as viewing galleries, a souvenir shop, and the UK's pioneering rotating restaurant on the 34th floor.

The TWA Hotel, initially designed by Eero Saarinen, shares similarities with the BT Tower transformation endeavor. With Beyer Blinder Belle Architects spearheading the restoration of the TWA Hotel, MCR Hotels is poised to usher in a new era for London's iconic landmark.
