Interior Designer Steven Gambrel Refusing To Stop Construction Resulting In Lawsuit
Noteworthy interior designer Steven Gambrel is being sued by his neihbor for allegedly killing a mulberry tree in his own backyard. Gambrel, who lives in Greenwich Village in New York City, is refusing to stop the remodeling progress on his townhouse courtyard.
Allan Gordon—neighbor of Gambrel on Hudston St.—leases the courtyard to the designer and has filed a $50,000 lawsuit. Gordon claims that Gambrel did not have permission to begin any construction work and there was no formal approval for a project.
Allegedly, Gambrel refused to stop construction and has further damaged the 50-foot mulberry tree.
The NY Daily News reported that Gordon stated in the suit, "The health and ultimate life-span of the tree was significantly compromised and jeopardized."
The neighbors surrounding the Gambrel's townhouse have complained of the noise level caused by construction and are reportedly upset about the status of the mature roots of the tree.
There has been no response from Gambrel on the issue, nor any updates on the health of the mulberry tree.
