NYSID Offers A Basic Interior Design Certificate with Online and Onsite Options

The New York School of Interior Design has always placed itself as one of the leading institutions in interior design programs. Its main premise is in providing diverse options of design education, ranging from undergraduate to graduate programs, full-time to part-time offerings as well as professional and pre-professional degrees. And according to their latest offerings, NYSID can now provide their internationally-renowned education to everyone in the world.

NYSID has started a non-degree Basic Interior Design (BID) certificate program, which is a preparatory course in interior design and serves as a foundational study for the school’s undergraduate degree programs. This program is now available for onsite and online learning.

David Sprouls, NYSID’s President said that although they had uncertainties in opening onsite courses in online formats, they were astounded by the reception from their students. The online modules will be taught by the same highly-credible faculty that they have in NYSID. The main advantage that students will get is that they can access lectures, demonstrations and learning materials 24/7 through advanced communication technologies.

With this program, students can then pursue a BFA or AAS undergraduate degree at NYSID or even jumpstart their careers in the interior design field. The non-degree BID certificate will help students develop their portfolios which is a requirement for a continuing educational track or in starting an entry-level profession.Sprouls said that this will be an ideal choice. “For aspiring designers who don’t live in and around New York, or just need the flexibility of online study, it’s the perfect way to learn the fundamentals of interior design.” He added, “Best of all, if you want to pursue a degree, you can transfer credits into our AAS, BFA, or BA programs. And it is only the beginning for us as we will be adding additional programs and continuing education courses to our online learning options.”

The learning module will tackle introductory courses on design concepts, design history, and drawing which will provide foundational knowledge in aesthetic and technical principles that will help aspiring designers in understanding space planning, materials, finishes, colors and drafting. Students can complete the certificate in part-time or full-time basis.
