Design on a Dime, New York City’s largest designer’s benefit will hold its 10th edition next Thursday, April 24. 'Design on a Dime' is an annual fundraising activity conducted by Housing Works and promises to feature more than 60 room vignettes and retail items from Miles Redd, Sam Allen, Eric Coher, Sara Gilbane and Harry Heissman will be on sale with discounted prices of up to 70%.

The event will be held at the Metropolitan Pavillion in Chelsea.

For this year’s activity, Rosario Dawson, actress and longtime AIDS advocate will act as the Honorary Chair. She will be co-chaired by Michael Boodro, Editor-in-chief of Elle Decor magazine, George Oliphant of NBC’s George to the Rescue, Sabriina Soto of HGTV’s High Low Project and Kevin Harter, the VP for Fashion Direction for some of Bloomingdale’s departments.

Boodro said, “It is truly amazing how much Housing Works has been able to accomplish with the help of the New York Design community in the ten years of this very special benefit.” He adds, “These 60 rooms may only be up for three days, but the money raised can build a home for someone in need that will last a lifetime.”Some of the designers who will be working on their vignettes include Nicole Gibbons, Patrick Hamilton, Jennifer Beek and Georgie Hambright. Gibbons will be working with Ethan Allen, which donated an estimated amount of $25,000 worth of furniture for Gibbon’s vignette. Gibbon’s vignette will revolve on the theme “Chic in Pink”. Meanwhile, Hamilton describes his vignette to be a combination of “Midas meets Maleficent, Game of Thrones meets Drag race”. Hamilton acquired donated pieces from Barry Dixon, among others. Hambright and Beek will go big on color-blocking for their designed vignettes.

The rooms will be unveiled during the ticketed and exclusive VIP Opening Night Reception. The next two days from April 25-26 will be open for free public sale. This year’s event from Housing Works will benefit Hull Street Residence which is a new housing project with 30 permanent units to house homeless, single adults with AIDS.
