iOS 7.1.2 Update Issues Caused By Download: Freezes, Battery Life Drains, More

iOS 7.1.2, Apple's latest mobile OS iteration to release, is still causing some issues for users, even for those simply trying to download the update, Gotta Be Mobile reports.

During the installation process of 7.1.2, users are reporting on Reddit their iPhone is freezing midway through - with some devices shutting down completely, requiring a reboot and forcing users to start the download from the start again. If you have experienced this issue, however, the users have noted all you need to do is peform a hard reset, which involves holding the home button and Power button simultaneously, to get the download to update properly after.

Other reported concerns with the update have come with battery life drains, issues to camera, iMessage, Wi-Fi and getting VPNs to work correctly, according to the publication.

The 7.1.2 update reportedly works with a new, untethered jailbreak offered up by Chinese hackers, CNET reported earlier this week.

The Pangu jailbreak tool, which was unveiled last week, can be installed for use after users download the new 7.1.2 mobile OS iteration, according to testing from the blog Redmond Apple Pie, which makes sense given 7.1.2 is a minor update for security patches and bug fixes. The jailbreak is compatible with any device that can run 7.1.1, according to the publication.

iOS 8's next upcoming beta iteration, meanwhile, could not be available to developers until July 8, BGR reports.

The rumored release date for the mobile OS update's download came from the publication's "trusted sources," which AppleInsider notes have relayed reliable information on iOS releases in the past.

A July 8 release would veer from the traditional two-week schedule Apple uses to make these downloads available to developers.
