Huawei Mate 9 Specs To Beat iPhone 7, Samsung Galaxy S7? Huawei P10 Leaks Reveal More Expensive Variants

By MPearce | Feb 13, 2017 01:11 AM EST

Huawei Mate 9 is currently priced at $999 and competes directly with the pricier flagships of Google (Pixel XL), Apple (iPhone 7 Plus) and Samsung (Note 7). The Huawei Mate 9 is said to be the Chinese phone manufacturer's second-last push into the deep end of the market. Apparently, the iPhone 7 Plus comes with the same screen resolution as the Huawei Mate 9, but has a smaller screen display making it sharper than the Huawei Mate 9.

No Daydream Support for the Huawei Mate 9

Rumors have been circulating that the Huawei Mate 9 would roll out with support for Google's Daydream platform. However, Huawei officials have already debunked the issue, AFR reported. The 5.9-inch Huawei Mate 9 with 1,920 x 1,080 pixel screen resolution is believed to look ordinary when fitted into the Daydream VR headset.

Apparently, using the Huawei Mate 9 with a Zeiss VR One headset also turns out to be ordinary under very high magnification. However, in terms of screen resolution, experts have noted no difference between the Huawei Mate 9 373 ppi screen and the Pixel XL's 534 ppi display. In addition, the Huawei Mate 9 is also said to feature the best screen-to-body ratio apart from the Note 7 which is no longer being sold today.
