The new Android Nougat update rolls out in beta form, bringing a highly anticipated feature to 6P devices along with some fixes and improvements. The final, more stable version of Android 7.1.2 won't be coming out until a few weeks.

Fortunately, for those who have signed up for the beta, the new Android Nougat update is already available. According to PhoneArena, Android 7.1.2 beta 2 comes out to selected Google devices such as Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player and the Pixel (also both XL and C) line-up.

The new Android Nougat update mostly benefits Nexus 6P owners, as it comes with the highly-anticipated finger swipe gestures. Nexus 6P owners were expecting this feature ever since it was made available for the Nexus 5X, but the 6P didn't get it until now.

Although Nexus 6P owners will have to manually enable the feature via settings, under the "Moves" category. The new Android Nougat Update beta 2 also comes with some bug fixes, carrier-specific improvements and some optimization tweaks.

Owners who were unable to sign-up for the Android beta program need not worry. A more stable and finalized version of the new Android Nougat update will release to other phone models in the weeks ahead.

While we are yet to see a finalized version of the Android Nougat, some are already looking at what's ahead of future Android OS versions. According to Droid Report, the next version of the operating system is called Android O, which is likely short for Android Oreo.

The source also mentioned that the next version will come with a wealth of improvements, even more bigger than the changes between Marshmallow and the new Android Nougat update.

This includes new features such as a Picture-in-Picture multi-tasking mode as well as a user interface overhaul. It might be too early to be expecting the upcoming Android version since there's still much to expect in the new Android Nougat update. Regardless, it doesn't make waiting for the upcoming Android version any less exciting.
