An app has just been launched early this month that helps people redesign their homes without doing any work. The app is free for anyone to download and gets a free consultation from interior designers by just uploading a photo of the room. Within 24 hours, a suggested redecoration will be sent back to the person.
Fortune reported the app is called Hutch and it allows users to upload photos of their spaces and apply Snapchat-like filters to get ideas for their redecorations. Then the app uses a unique process called proprietary technology where an interior designer transforms the picture into a redecorated virtual image of the room within 24 hours. Users have the choice to buy the pieces in the virtual design which is also one way for the company to earn from their services.
Although the app is free to download for everyone, the furniture in the redesigned photo is for sale. The company buys their furniture in wholesale and sells it individually to the app users. Since the Hutch's launch date, it has already received several updates to further improve its services.
Two years ago, Beatrice Fischel-Bock and her team pitched an app called "Zoom Interiors" where anyone can consult interior designers to get floor plan ideas. However, the app wasn't very successful and eventually fell through. Then, co-found of Tinder, Sean Rad, connected with the Fischel-Bock and her team again about a new app which they called "Homee". The second app was a success where its network continued growing.
However, the company wanted to improve the user's experience with the app so they changed the concept of the app and called it "Hutch." In this app, there will be no chatting necessary and its all about helping users redecorate their homes and getting suggestions for furniture within 24 hours.
