Kendall Jenner Stays Low With Family After Pepsi Commercial Controversy, Source Reveals

Kendall Jenner is staying out of the spotlight while her Pepsi commercial controversy dies down. The 21-year-old model is taking it easy and leaning on her family until things calm down.

In the Pepsi commercial titled "Live for Now Moments Anthem," Jenner joins a group of attractive protesters in the street halfway through a photo shoot. She then offers a Pepsi can to a police officer, who pops the top and takes a sip, and is met with euphoric cheers of approval from the demonstrators.

The commercial has since drawn criticism for minimizing the Black Lives Matter message across the United States. The brand has pulled out the Pepsi commercial following the backlash.

Jenner was working abroad at the time the Pepsi commercial was released. The ad was immediately met with a wildfire of criticism across social media sites, with as much as many calling the commercial "tone deaf."

The Pepsi commercial's immense public scorn, mockery, and disapproval were joined by Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter, Bernice King, according to Mail Online. She posted a picture of her father on her Twitter saying, "If only Daddy would have known about the power of #Pepsi."

"Jenner has been very upset. She loves being a model. To get a Pepsi commercial was a big deal. She was very excited. She never expected it to receive such backlash," a Keeping Up with the Kardashians source told the People. "She hopes people understand that she wasn't involved in the creative process."

The source continued to that Jenner remains unhappy about the Pepsi commercial controversy. It is likely that she plans to lay low until things get better, while spending a quiet weekend with the family. Everyone is being very supportive as Jenner is young and certainly not used to being involved in such controversy, the source said.
