Macy Shoppers Are In Luck: Department Store Plans To Be The First Store Open On Thanksgiving Day
Macy's is the first department store to release store hours for the coming Thanksgiving holiday, and according to Home and Textiles Today, they plan to open their doors at 6 p.m.
Last year, Macy's opened at 8 p.m., the company stated that an earlier opening is "in response to the significant, sustained customer interest in last year's opening on Thanksgiving." 2013 marked the first time Macy's opened its doors on Thanksgiving, with nearly 15,000 people waiting to shop at its flagship in Manhattan's Herald Square.
In recent years, it has become rapidly competitive for retailers to please their customers on such a popular weekend for purchasing goods. The Thanksgiving holiday has become the new Black Friday, with consumers eager to get their hands on the best deals and promotional products. Other major retailers like, J.C. Penny, Wal-Mart and Target, opened their doors on the holiday last year, and we can presume they will again this year.
If you happen to be one of the individuals eager to shop this Thanksgiving, you now can tackle your first venture at Macy's. This may mean eating turkey a few hours earlier, but at least you've been informed before making those Thanksgiving plans.
