Health Care Designer Rosalyn Cama to Provide a Talk about Health Care Interior Design

Patients need the support of their loved ones when confined within the premises of a health care facility. However, the designed environment can prove to be a crucial aspect for this factor. When a hospital fails to promote a comfortable place for the patients’ support system, their visitors will less likely to stay.

This is one of the main points that will be discussed by Rosalyn Cama, one of the country’s leading experts in health care interior design. Cama is the president of CAMA, Inc., an interior design firm which focuses on evidence-based health care design environments. Her talk, which will be titled “Life Indoors: Interior Design’s Impact on Health and Well-Being” is a part of the Colorado State University’s 10th Executive in Residence program.

According to Cama, interior environments such as health care facilities should be able to accommodate a patient’s company especially those who plan on staying the night. A failure in designing this aspect can affect a patient’s healing process. “It’s about how to create optimal life patterns indoors,” Cama said.

For her presentation, she will focus on issues as to how interior design can affect a user’s behavior be it in healing, playing or learning.

Cama’s talk will be held on April 24, Thursday, 7pm at Room A202 Clark Building. The program is sponsored by the Department of Design and Merchandising.
