Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago Welcomes David Bowie Fans To New Exhibition
Today marks the opening of the "David Bowie Is" exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and according to MCA Chicago, it "presents the first retrospective of the extraordinary career of David Bowie- one of the most pioneering and influential performers of our times."
Bowie has led an artistic lifestyle; his visions have transformed projects throughout various industries, ranging in art, design, theater and contemporary culture. His own designs and collaborative work will be presented across 400 pieces, "including handwritten lyrics, original costumes, photography, set designs, album artwork, and rare performance material from the past five decades - are brought together for the first time."
From Sept. 23 to Jan. 4, the display of Bowie's wide-ranging works can be enjoyed by longtime fans and new visitors to observe. Other fashions of Bowie's previous expressions are showcased at the Victoria and Albert Museums in London, however special favorites have made the transition to Chicago. The NY Times stated that the collection will feature "Ziggy Stardust, Mr. Bowie's best-known character, and the Union Jack coat he collaborated on with Alexader McQueen."
