A Day Without A Woman 2017: A Strike That Even Lady Liberty Supports; Outcome Has Consequences

A Day Without A Woman 2017 had gathered lots of supporters, but the strike that followed the event wasn't one without consequences. On Wednesday, a whole crowd of women wore red and banded together on American soil to express their support for each other.

On that day, these women raised awareness to multiple issues such as equal work pay and fair treatment within the workplace. While A Day Without A Woman 2017 certainly united women from across the country, not all were able to participate.

According to Los Angeles Times, some women workers just aren't able to afford the time and luxury to participate in the general strike. Doing so would mean missing a full day's work, which is very costly specially when they're trying to make ends meet.

Some who were unable to participate still expressed their support for the A Day Without Woman 2017 rally. "When women succeed, the world succeeds." , added House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

However, the general strike also had some consequences, when a number of local schools were closed due to the event. Some parents were unaware about the A Day Without A Woman 2017 outcome, and were left without a school to drop their kids to.

The effect of the rally even extended beyond schools, as reports mentioned that some municipal courts were forced to shut down for the day due to insufficient staff. Even Lady Liberty herself took the day off, as the statue of liberty went dim during the A Day Without A Woman 2017 event.

According to Vice, this wasn't because Lady Liberty expressed her support for the strike, rather this was due to a systems failure. The Statue Of Liberty National Park explained that a new generator was being installed, although the timing itself is quite suspect.

Regardless, A Day Without A Woman 2017 clearly showed the country the overwhelming support that women have for each other. Events like these show that the unity that's formed between women is something that the world cannot ignore.
