The 1st Taste of Design Exhibit Features Top Chef and Top Designer Collaborations

The first annual Taste of Design showcase will be debuting on Wednesday, April 2 and will feature the works of top chefs along with top interior design talents. The event will be held at the Cave du Vin at Lafayette Restaurant and is a part of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club.

The collaboration includes Dirt Candy’s Amanda Cohen and Devon Morten, Restaurant North’s Eric Grabynowicz and Tamara Eaton, La Vara’s Alex Raij and Eddie Lee, Union Square Cafe’s Carmen Quagliata and Sasha Bikoff and General Assembly’s Craig Koketsu and Jon Call.

The chefs will hold their tasting stations which will be the designed by their designer duo.

Jon Call, who is partnered with Craig Koketsu describes General Assembly’s tasting station to be earthy, sophisticated, rustic and fragrant. “The food is going to be the inspiration to create our tabletop design, and we look forward to creating something just as fun and unique as the restaurant that we are working with.”

Alix Lerman, Director of Marketing and Communication at the New York Design Center said, “The New York Design Center is thrilled to be a sponsor of the Kips Bay ‘A Taste of Design’ event. In addition to exposing The Kips Bays Boys and Girls Club to a broader audience, most importantly, the event will raise additional fund to help 11,000 kids annually.”

Tickets are sold at $150 for VIP, $250 for couples and $100 for individual regular-priced ticket. The event will start from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.The Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club has been continuing to create events sice 1915 to improve the lives of children in New York. The organization also provides enrichment programs and after-school activities for kids between 6 to 18 years old.
