Fifth Edition of Clerkenwell Design Week Coming this May

Clerkenwell Design Week will now be in its fifth year and will take place from May 20 to May 22 in different locations within London’s design center. This year promises to showcase the latest innovations by manufacturers and designers from both The UK and abroad.

According to William Knight, this year’s show director, the focus will be on four design exhibitions- The Design Factory, Platform, Detail and Additions.

The Design Factory will be based at the Farmiloe Building and will feature the best designs in contemporary lighting, furniture and product designs from a variety of sources, most of which will come from Italy. Foscarini, a leading Italian brand, will be installing a lighting design within the atrium and the tunnel. Discipline, a new design brand will be making their big launch with the Last Side Tables by Max Lamb under The Design Factory.

The Platform exhibit will be the venue for emerging young designers to show case their works. Featured designers include Johanna Tammsalu with her hand-spun ceramic pendant light, Lucy Clive’s first fabric range, Loic Bard with his newest coffee table designs and Judy Clark with her designs of Bean Tables. Platform will be held at the House of Detention.

Detail will be featuring the most luxurious designs which embody exquisite craftsmanship and fine quality products. The exhibit, which will be held at the Order of St. John, will carry the most notable names in luxury interior design. Some of the highlights in the exhibit includes collaboration from top design brands such as IT_All About Design, Edra and the Campana Brothers. The collaboration titled “From Art to Design” is an exploration on design production and the processes it will take for a piece of art to become a highly-successful product with great commercial value.

Additions is the newest design exhibition that will be launched during the event. It will be based at the Crypt on the Green at St James church and will feature well-curated design items and home accessories.

William Knight said, “We are very excited about our fifth edition this year, not least our new show Additions. There is an increased number of showrooms and exhibitors, some really interesting installations and activities to get the visitors involved, as well as our star-studded talk programme. We will be bringing in some of the best industry names to celebrate this important milestone in the heart of creative London.”
