Darren Mercer Interiors Introduces new Eco-Friendly Policy

Darren Mercer Interiors is introducing a new eco-friendly policy wherein the company will be working on ten projects in 2014, all of which are made from 100% recycled materials.

The company will be doing the first five of the said projects starting this summer in a new apartment complex in Southampton’s Ocean Village Marina. The company will start on the remaining five projects by late November of this year.

Last year, the Manchester-based company jump-started with their purely ecological design solutions through makeover projects in Switzerland. The projects were done on 20th century Swiss chalets located in mountains and saw the company using energy-saving features and recycled materials.

According to Darren Mercer, this policy is a way for interior designers to take responsibility in the profession to help reverse the growing phenomena of global warming. Mercer said, “As interior designers, we’re fully aware that energy used and wasted in dwellings, office buildings and commercials spaces has played a large part in the damaging of the environment.”

The company has been thoroughly making efforts in minimizing carbon footprints within their projects and has gained reputation in completing progressive green interior design projects. Their initiatives include using standard procedures in installing wall, ceiling and floor insulation as well as putting up LED lighting for more sustainable energy usage. All of these features are offered to clients without extra charges as Darren Mercer deems that this is the company’s way of providing a legacy for the future.

Mercer said, “Lots of our clients are keen to include energy efficient lighting and insulation into their properties but are often put off by the increased price. By offsetting the additional cost of these features and taking the financial hit ourselves, we believe that we will gain more respect in the industry and therefore increase our turnover and profitability, whilst simultaneously protecting the planet.”

Darren Mercer Interiors has offices in Stockport, Liverpool and has recently opened a new office in Southampton. The company has clients around the country as well as in other parts of Europe and North America.
