A Dialogue with Aspirations

When HAMAAN Studio embarked on the transformation of Rashnan Villa House, they encountered an unfinished structure nestled within a serene garden near town. Initially conceived as a typical building with a nine-squared geometry, the structure lacked architectural articulations and spatial details, resembling a naive reinterpretation of traditional pavilions. However, the client's vision extended beyond the ordinary; they sought a vacation villa and a true home that encapsulated their childhood memories. For the architects, this project represented a unique opportunity for architectural self-creation, engaging in a dialogical relationship with the client's aspirations.

Addressing Structural Challenges

The project's initial phase was characterized by a meticulous examination of the pre-existing structural issues and deficiencies that plagued Rashnan Villa House. The existing two-story facade design posed significant challenges, disrupting internal and external visual connections. Recognizing the importance of fluid spatial transitions and harmonious integration with the surrounding environment, the architects embarked on a journey to reimagine the villa's architectural identity.

In response to the architectural constraints posed by the previous design, the architects devised a transformative solution centered around the concept of an "intermediary space." This innovative approach aimed to dissolve the rigid separation between the two stories, fostering a seamless transition between different areas of the villa. Extending downward from the void in the ceiling, the intermediary space emerged as a pivotal element in the spatial articulation of the villa, imbuing the interiors with a sense of depth and dynamism.

Enhancing Flow and Connectivity

Central to the redesign was a new entrance and a bridge-like circulation path encircling the first floor. These interventions addressed the deficiencies in the previous structural articulations and facilitated a more fluid movement through the villa. The carefully crafted circulation path enhances the experience of living amidst the natural surroundings, allowing inhabitants to transition between indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly.

A Concrete Haven Amidst Mountains and Trees

Constructed with a concrete structure, Rashnan Villa House blends harmoniously with its natural setting. Year-round optimal comfort is ensured by using split units for cooling and a packaged system for heating provided by underfloor heating. A profound appreciation for the surrounding landscape is reflected in every design element, from the material selection to the spatial arrangement.

In the transformation of Rashnan Villa House, HAMAAN Studio has demonstrated its commitment to architectural innovation and excellence. They have redefined the idea of a vacation villa by carefully considering the client's desires and applying a rigorous approach to spatial design. The result is a true sanctuary that captures the spirit of home. Nestled amidst verdant mountains, Rashnan Villa House is a celebration of the timeless relationship between architecture and nature and a monument to architectural mastery.
