Kitchen Design Spotlight: Herringbone Tiles

For those who are obsessed with updating their kitchen design, time to rejoice as there is a modern version to the iconic Herringbone tiles! Have a look at the classic tiles in your modern kitchen.

Dabney Frake of Apartment Therapy focuses on these lovely Herringbone tiles as a feature in kitchen design. It can cover one side of a wall in your kitchen or it can be the entire four walls and it would never look like you are overdoing it. What is good right now is that the classic Herringbone tiles are now becoming modern design features.

Frake confessed that she stumbled upon a great inspirational kitchen design and what caught her eye were the Herringbone tiles made to look modern just by playing with their patterns. Herringbone tiles have always been around for years now yet they are usually in one full color. The design featured in the article was a mix of two colors. It wasn't just that combination that made it attractive.

The Herringbone tiles were also arranged to give off a cute pattern that did not really clash with the overall kitchen design, rather, they complimented it. Its black-and-white pattern made the solid white Herringbone tiles as background and the black Herringbone tiles as borders.

Gamble plus Design house designer, Jeni Gamble, was responsible for the subtle look of these Herringbone tiles in her kitchen design. The design, according to Gamble, was part of the entire house design made specifically for Candis Cayne, celebrity entertainer. The black and white motif stuck to the different parts of the house making a clean and uniformed look for her entire home.

Whether it is plain or mixed, Herringbone tiles are a good addition to your ever-changing kitchen design. Houzz featured a variety of photos of the styles you can use with your Herringbone tiles. Some of them look polished while others look rustic. Others have designs already so all you need to do is just arrange them on your wall. What's good about the Herringbone tiles is that it does not overpower your entire kitchen design and it looks even better from afar.
