As we are celebrating the International Women's Day today let us take this moment and look at the incredible strides by women have made in different fields of studies and the field of architecture being one of them. This is in contrast to the patriarchal upbringing which previously placed this in the male realm of exclusive male-dominated sphere, woman architects have defeated stereotype and made a remarkable contribution that changed the face of the cities all over the world.

The construction of a city usually starts with the creation or preservation of iconic sites such as legislative buildings, site representing the historical importance of the city, effect of climate change or the need for social structures to accommodate the diversity of the city.
