Why You Should Try Playing 'Kim Kardashian Hollywood' And Might Like It

Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, a new mobile game ranked #1 on The App Store's Top Free chart and #5 in the Top Grossing chart, has faced some criticism.

The men in the game are superficial and obnoxious and and tapping money on the screen to collect it gets annoying.

But this game is doing a lot of things right and receiving praise, even though opinions are mixed on the celebrity behind it.

Lindsey Weber broke down why people can't get enough of Kim Kardashian: Hollywood for Vulture.

"If it feels like everyone around you is not only playing the Kim Kardashian game, but also can't stop talking about how they are playing the Kim Kardashian game, that's because they are and they can't," she wrote.

Firstly, the game is "funny and well-written," according to Weber.

She pointed out a moment in the game when a man says he's going to operate the first bar only to accept Bitcoin and other absurdities that are legitimately funny.

"After you gain access to cooler clubs, you meet C-listers who introduce themselves with: 'Lovely to meet you. My name is Nevaeh. While I spend my days as a wealthy socialite, my heart yearns to break free. Your acquaintance is a ray of warm sunshine on a dull day of tedium,'" she wrote.

Weber also mentioned that enough people are playing the game that it already has a meme. So if you're playing the game right now at it's height, it is weaseling its way into pop culture and recognizable elsewhere.

It might seem silly, but Weber also said interacting with actual friends in the game is fun and entertaining.

Most games in the App Store are not multiplayer, so Kim Kardashian: Hollywood's ability to connect actual friends sets it apart from most.

Another plus is the game's acceptance of all looks and sexualities.

"A small detail, sure, but something that really stood out to me about KKH was after Kim K herself first tries to set you up with her friend and accuses you of not being 'into him' (or her, if you choose to be a man), she basically asks you if you're gay. And after that: You can date whomever you choose. The only person you can't date? Kim. (She's married!)," Webber wrote.

Others are agreeing with Weber's opinion that the game is, at the very least, entertaining to play.

"It's ridiculous. It's laughable. It grates on your nerves after awhile," said Emily Yahr at The Washington Post. "And it's nearly impossible to look away."

The game has reportedly brought in $200M for developer Glu Mobile, with supposedly $85M going to Kim Kardashian directly due to her 45% stake in the game, according to Forbes
