Paris is once again at the center of the international design conversation as Paris Design Week 2026 gets underway alongside the September edition of Maison&Objet.

Running from September 10 through 19, Paris Design Week is bringing together designers, galleries, showrooms, cultural institutions and creative brands across the French capital. At the same time, Maison&Objet is hosting its September trade fair from September 10 through 14 at Paris Nord Villepinte, creating a concentrated period of exhibitions, product launches, installations and industry events.

For the official Maison&Objet September 2026 program, the central theme is "Pulse in Motion," a concept developed with trend agency NellyRodi and brought to life with Studio Masquespacio as the edition's ambassador. The theme focuses on movement, collective energy and the ways design can respond to a rapidly changing creative landscape.

Maison&Objet Sets the Tone for September

Maison&Objet's September fair is organized across seven sectors: Cook&Share, Decor&Design, Fine Craft, Wellness&Beauty, Fragrance&Ambiance, Fashion&Accessories, and Gift&Play. The event is designed primarily for professionals across design, interiors, hospitality, retail and related creative industries.

The "Pulse in Motion" theme gives this edition a conceptual framework centered on movement and transformation. Rather than presenting design as something static, Maison&Objet is using the theme to explore how creative practices, objects and spaces respond to shifts in culture and everyday life.

The fair also remains an important sourcing destination for the international design industry. Its broad selection means that visitors can encounter furniture and decorative objects alongside craft, fragrance, wellness, fashion and accessories.

That breadth is one reason Maison&Objet continues to function as more than a traditional furniture fair. The September edition brings together different corners of the creative market, giving professionals an opportunity to identify new brands, materials, products and ideas in one setting.

Paris Design Week Takes Design Across the City

While Maison&Objet offers a concentrated trade-fair experience, Paris Design Week takes a more dispersed approach.

The official Paris Design Week program encompasses hundreds of participating locations across four major design districts: Rive Gauche; Marais, Bastille and République; Opéra, Concorde and Étoile; and Palais-Royal, Place des Victoires and Pigalle. The program also includes Paris Design Week Factory.

That citywide structure is central to the event's identity. Instead of keeping design inside a convention center, the week brings exhibitions and presentations into galleries, showrooms, boutiques, cultural institutions, workshops and other locations throughout Paris.

The result is an event that allows visitors to experience design in very different architectural and commercial environments. An emerging designer can appear alongside an established gallery, while a product launch might sit within a historic Parisian interior or a contemporary showroom.

For visitors, the format also makes the city itself part of the experience. Moving between districts creates opportunities to encounter design through different scales, disciplines and creative perspectives.

Craftsmanship, Objects and New Creative Perspectives

The relationship between objects and their environments is another important part of this year's design conversation.

Organizers describe the 2026 edition as a celebration of the dialogue between places, artists and brands, with objects positioned at the intersection of handcraft, materiality and everyday life.

That focus reflects the continued importance of craftsmanship within contemporary design. Alongside digitally driven experimentation and industrial production, designers and brands are continuing to place attention on materials, making techniques and the physical qualities of objects.

Maison&Objet's Fine Craft sector gives that conversation a particularly visible platform, while Paris Design Week provides opportunities to see individual designers and galleries present work in more intimate settings.

The two events therefore approach the same design ecosystem from different directions. Maison&Objet offers scale, commercial discovery and professional networking, while Paris Design Week creates a broader cultural setting in which design can be experienced alongside art, architecture and retail.

Together, they provide a snapshot of the design industry at the beginning of the fall season.

What to Expect From Paris Design Week 2026

With Maison&Objet running through September 14 and Paris Design Week continuing through September 19, Paris is set to remain a major meeting point for the international design community throughout the month.

For professionals, the events offer opportunities to discover products, connect with brands and assess emerging directions across interiors and lifestyle. For design enthusiasts, they provide access to exhibitions, installations, galleries and creative spaces across the city.

The significance of the September design calendar extends beyond the individual events. The products, materials, designers and ideas presented in Paris often become part of the wider design conversation in the months that follow.

This year's "Pulse in Motion" theme places particular emphasis on change, energy and movement, making the September edition a timely reflection of an industry that continues to evolve.

With Maison&Objet providing the major industry platform and Paris Design Week extending the conversation throughout the capital, the two events once again place Paris firmly in the spotlight as one of the world's most important design destinations.
