iOS 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 Updates In Testing Ahead Of New Product Launches

Apple is simultaneously testing three new iOS 8 updates prior to the launches of several new products, 9to5Mac reports.

According to the website, server analytics suggest Apple is unusually testing more than one version at the same time, all of which are major updates.

MacRumors weighs in on the testing:

"The most likely explanation for this change in pattern involves major product launches over the coming months. The company is preparing to roll out Apple Pay in October, with the new NFC-based payment system almost certainly falling into the major software update category. Other products on the horizon include the upcoming Apple Watch and a rumored 12.9-inch "iPad Pro", both of which appear set to launch early next year and which would also require significant iOS updates to support them."

Apple released its iOS 8.0.2 update last Thursday "with improvements and bug fixes," but according to CNET, some users are still experiencing issues following the download.

The website reports that in a Reddit conversation thread, users in Australia are reporting that iOS 8.0.2 has not corrected the cellular connectivity and Touch ID problems that became apparent in 8.0.1, which wasreleased and then pulled by Apple for creating them.

CNET does note, however, that the issue doesn't appear to be widespread at this point.

Apple's new iOS 8 update is packed with new features, and while the new Tips app certainly helps users get acclimated with the most important changes, a bit of exploring is necessary if you're going to discover them all.

Thankfully for you, MacRumors has put together a new video to help you get the most out of the new mobile OS offering, highlighting features including quickly accessing your favorite contacts, using the new "hands-free" version of Siri, scanning a credit card number in Safari and more.

The publication notes that it has been putting this together since the first iOS 8 beta versions released and now that the public update is out, has put them all together.
