iPhone 8 Release Date Set For 2018; What We Know So Far

Apple's anniversary iPhone has been highly anticipated as more and more new features are expected from the upcoming device. The iPhone 8 was thought to be released in 2017; however, recent reports claim that a 2018 release date is still possible.

Fox News reported that the iPhone X, as some may refer to as the iPhone 8, may carry the roman numeral for the number ten instead. The latter is likely to happen as the upcoming device is the company's 10th-anniversary iPhone.

Moreover, the iPhone 8 is reported to flaunt an amazing OLED display according to Raymond Soneira, the head display expert at DisplayMate Technologies. According to this expert, the iPhone 8 OLED display will be similar to that of the Galaxy Note7 as well as the Galaxy S8. It is worth mentioning that the iPhone 8 will be the first iPhone to utilize OLED technology as all previous Apple phones had LCD displays.

Aside from the beautiful OLED display, another attractive feature that the upcoming iPhone 8 will have is the curved screen. The iPhone 8 OLED display, matched with a border free bezel will provide an edge-to-edge front view. If Soniera's thoughts on the upcoming anniversary iPhone are correct, then people will soon see a significant difference in terms of aesthetics as compared with the current iPhone 7.

It is thought that the iPhone 8 will come in 2017, however, a recent report from Express suggests that folks may need to wait until 2018. The report claims that with the iPhone 8 integrating the bezel OLED display, the device may come out next year instead of this September. While Apple CEO Tim Cook mentioned that the best is yet to come for the iPhone, it really seems that the Cupertino giant is gearing up to unleash bucket loads of new features for their 10th-anniversary iPhone.

Another notable change to be applied on the upcoming iPhone 8 is the removal of the physical home button. It was mentioned that the iPhone 8 will have a full glass OLED display with an edge to edge front view, space for a physical home button would not be made possible.
