Kartell in Tavola: Kartell Launches First-ever Tableware Products since1979
Kartell, the luxurious Italian company known for their creative and industrial use of plastics, will be launching a new product line which was lifted off from the brand’s history.
During the Milan Fair which will be held from April 8 to April 13, Kartell will introduce new tableware created by major designers such as Philippe Starck, Patricia Urquiola and Jean-Marie Massaud who worked together with top Italian chefs Carlo Cracco, Andrea Barton and Davide Oldani.
For the first time since 1979, Kartell has produced tableware items such as cups, plates and forks. Claudio Luti, Kartell’s chief executive said, “I don’t know why it was interrupted. I think maybe it was a problem with distribution.”
The product line known as Kartell in Tavola will now bear new designs including Patricia Urquiola’s Jellies Family which looks like scalloped translucent dishes. Lutti said that Urquiola designed “something she wanted to use in her own home.”
The products will be released in Kartell stores by early 2015.
A little bit of background about Kartell in Tavola:
In the mid 1970s, Kartell aimed to respond to the growing number of multifunctional electrical appliances and decided to focus on the interior design aspect of the company, which meant they had to let go of their homeware division. The Kartell in Tavola line included the last homeware products carried by Kartell. The original line was designed by Franco Raggi, Anna Castelli Ferrieri and Centrokappa and included food containers and brightly coloured items along with their tableware.
