LG's G3 "Prime" model extensively rumored for the past couple weeks will indeed be launched in South Korea with a Cat 6 modem, AndroidPIT reports.
Last week, an alleged Korean advertisement for a G3 model with Cat 6 LTE-A was spotted.
The publication reports that its sources have informed them that the device will launch next week in South Korea with the name LG G3 Cat.6, referring to the Cat 6 LTE support. The update is a bit disappointing to those who were hoping for a premium G3 variant, as Cat 6 is not supported in many places outside of Korea, suggesting this device will be a Korean exclusive - at least until other areas provide the support.
According to AndroidPIT, the G3 Cat.6 will feature a price tag of 940,000 KRW (about $915) and go on sale in the country starting July 25. It is unknown what other, if any, specs differences this model features compared to the current G3.
The alleged smartphone was also recently certified by the Bluetooth SIG:
"An LG F460L has been leaked before," GSMArena reports. "That could be the same device as the F460S, but headed to a different Korean carrier. "L" usually stands for LG U+, while "S" is used to depict phones sold by SK Telecom.
So it's quite likely that the LG G3 Prime will only be launched in South Korea, at least at first. That would be similar to what happened with the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A - it too sports a Snapdragon 805 SoC, and it's Korea-only for now."
Korean website Naver previously reported that LG is planning on launching an improved version of the G3 with a tiny, but undoubtedly powerful specs change: a Snapdragon 805 processor. In comparison to the G3's 801, the 805 would boost battery life while improving the multitasking and gaming experiences, even offering the fastest 4G LTE and WiFi speeds up to date and 4K video support, Gotta Be Mobile reports.
