Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Leaks: Metallic Frame, New Back Design Shown In Alleged Photos

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has allegedly leaked in new images that show off the massive smartphone's new design features.

The photos, which were published by GSMArena, indicate the rumored device will ditch the fake stitching of the Note 3 for what appears to be a leather back and a new metallic frame. Android Origin reports that Samsung is indeed preparing a Note 4 that will ditch the plastic for metal casing - but just for a premium version. The leak also suggests that the device will feature a flexible display and a 16-megapixel rear facing camera.

In GSMArena's photos, the S Pen holder shows up on the side of the device and a microUSB 3.0 port is situated on the bottom with the speaker grille.

CNET reports that a Samsung spokesman declined to comment on the photos.

A recent report tipped the large-screened smartphone for a Sept. 3 launch at a pre-IFA event in Berlin - which would effectively give Sammy a bit of a head start before the release of the next rumored iPhone, which is expected to arrive in September with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch variants (although the larger version could come at a later date).

Samsung last year launched the device's predecessor, the Galaxy Note 3, on Sept. 5.

The Korea Times report, which notes event invitations should be sent out soon, also sources a Korea-based Samsung partner, who revealed the device will pack a UV sensor:

"The Note 4 will be the first smartphone to incorporate an ultraviolet sensor. The sensor can measure UV radiation and offer index levels to Note 4 users inside the 'S Health' application."

Specs that have been mentioned in earlier leaks include a 5.7-inch screen (like its predecessor) with a QHD display (which would be about 520 pixels per inch), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 CPU clocked in at 2.7GHz, a fingerprint scanner and either 3GB or 4GB of RAM. Color options for the device have also been tipped to be gold, black, blue and white.

In comparison, the Galaxy Note 3 features a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen (386 ppi), 3GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel primary camera and 2-megapixel secondary camera and a 1.9GHz processor.
