GBCA and DIA Promotes Sustainability in Interior Design

From April 30 to May 20, a series of events created by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) and the Design Institute Australia (DIA) will educate audiences through sustainable design discussions and networking activities.

The series will take place through six evenings. The first one will be in Brisbane on April 30, Adelaide on May 6, Perth on May 7, Melbourne on May 14, and Sydney and Canberra on May 20.

The sustainable design fora titled “Sustainable Interior Design” aim to introduce those in the industry to sustainable interior design and the Green Star, which is a rating tool for sustainable interiors. The discussion will also help designers, architects, and decorators to explore “uncommon sectors” within these localities wherein sustainable interior design might be of use. The discussions highlighted in the event will focus on fields of retail, hospitality, healthcare and tertiary education.

The events will also introduce the Green Star as the GBCA promotes to establish this rating tool’s efficiency in accessing the sustainability of interior fit outs through a variety of sectors. According to the organization, “Green Star-Interiors provides developers, owners and users with the best practice benchmarks for the development of interior fitouts and offers an avenue for the independent verification of fitout projects’s sustainability credentials through the Green Star certification.”

The Green Star-Interior is a part of the Green Star program which is a tool used in Australia to assess sustainable building design.

Participants to the event will gain credits of 2 CPD points for GBCA Green Star Accredited Professional qualification and 8 CPD points for DIA Accredited Designer Status.
