Samsung Galaxy S5 Google Play Edition Appears On Android Website, Release Likely?

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Google Play Edition has been spotted again, Ubergizmo reports.

The rumored smartphone allegedly surfaced Thursday in an image on the official Android website, showing off the stock GS5 lined up with other Google Play and Nexus devices. Considering the GS5's predecessor got a Google Play Edition, the publication notes it's "not a stretch of the imagination" that the new Samsung flagship could, too.

The rumored S5 Google Play Edition of the Galaxy S5 also surfaced briefly a couple months ago in the Google Play Store.

A thumbnail image of the Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition was replaced by the S5 version, which was recognized due to the device's 'perforated' back panel texture and other identifying features, according to NDTV. Though Google later removed the image, it showed that the device will feature both hardware and software keys on the front, which would be a first for Samsung.

The website notes that with an HTC One M8 Google Play Edition already out, its very likely we will see a Samsung GS5 version, and fairly soon.

Nothing has been confirmed yet by Google or Samsung, but stay tuned.

That isn't the only GS5 variant allegedly in development.

When Samsung announced the Korea-exclusive Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A, many consumers believe the smartphone was the highly-rumored premium S5. Although the LTE-A model's specs are very similar to the rumored specs for the Galaxy F/S5 Prime, it appears the device could still have some life left in it, Android Authority reports.

A new photo of the device in a "glowing gold" color option has surfaced courtesy of @evleaks, apparently revealing that the smartphone will come in not one, but two gold looks. Evleaks noted that this was not the GS5 LTE-A, but a completely different smartphone.

The leaker previously released a photo of the alleged smartphone in "perfect gold:"

Like previous leaks, the device appears to have a thin bezel.
