Nexus 8 Tablet Leaks Again: $276 Price Tag Revealed

The Nexus 8 has allegedly surfaced yet again - this with an alleged price tag in tow.

Android Origin reports that two separate shipments from the United States to Bangalore Air Cargo have been spotted containing two tablets each, which the publication calculates are prototypes for testing purposes.

The information, which comes from a database entry on Indian website Zauba, claims one Nexus 8 prototype shipped on July 4 and another shipped on June 30, along with two alleged price tags: INR 16,649 (USD$277) and INR 16,484 (USD$274.44).

With the specs reportedly coming with the device, the price seems a bit low, so for now we would advise you take this rumor with a grain of salt.

Another recent leak involving the tablet suggests it will release with high-end hardware in an aluminum unibody, CNET reports.

Trusted leaker @evleaks has revealed that the device will pack a 64-bit Nvidia Tegra K1 processor, 5GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and either a 5MP or 8MP rear-facing camera. Meanwhile, the Nexus 8 is also now being tipped for an 8.9-inch display with 2,560x1,600 pixel resolution, instead of the 2,048x1,440 pixel resolution previously reported. As the publication notes, previous rumors also suggested the tablet would feature 2GB of RAM, and not five. Previous Nexus tablets have featured plastic designs, as well.

The rumored tablet did not get announced at Google I/O 2014, but it is believed to be set for a release date in late summer or early fall, Android Origin reports.

Reliable HTC leaker LlabToofeR recently revealed that the tablet would be announced "at a dedicated event," which the publication notes could also include Android L. With the launch of the tentatively-titled Android L being tipped for this fall, it seems likely that the Nexus 8 could debut alongside the update, like many of its Nexus predecessors have.

According to a recent CNET report, the tablet was never scheduled to be introduced at I/O, "but is still on its way to the market." The publication added that the timing of the announcement, however, is unknown.

Along with the specs, the report also claims to have uncovered pricing details for the device, suggesting a start price of $399 for the 16GB model and $499 for the 32GB. LTE connection, meanwhile, would increase the price into the "$600+ range."
