The wait for the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus is almost over for some consumers.
Apple announced Monday that its new iPhone models will hit 36 new countries this month, including markets in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. The handsets will arrive in China this Friday, as well as in India and Monaco.
The addition of the new regions means the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will be available in a total of 69 countries by the end of Oct. Apple says it plans to have the smartphones up for sale in 115 countries by the end of the year, which would be the "fastest iPhone rollout ever," according to the tech giant.
With a record number of launch sales already in the books, it appears iPhone 6 and 6 Plus sales aren't slowing down anytime soon.
Analytics data from Fiksu and Mixpanel (via Forbes) projects 21 million iPhone 6 units have been sold - a substantial figure considering the devices only became available in certain markets about two weeks ago and are still not available in China, the world's largest smartphone market.
These sales are reportedly much higer than those for the iPhone 5S and 5 during the same amount of time following their launches, with the 6 Plus' 4 million sales on-par with those of the iPhone 5C despite not being widely available in stores like the 5C was.
The launch of the iPhone 6 was expected to spur "the mother of all upgrades" for the Cupertino-based tech giant. In anticipation, Apple reportedly ordered 80 million combined 6 and 6 Plus units by the end of the year.
Both new iPhones pack better battery life, an Apple A8 64-bit chip that allows for 25 percent faster CPU and 50 percent faster GPU performances, new camera features including Optical Image Stabilization and Apple Pay, the mobile payment system that will allow users to pay for products with their iPhone.
