Samsung announced Tuesday a massive expansion of its Kids Store, which is part of the Kids Mode feature offered in the Galaxy S5 and Tab S tabets, Android Central reports.
The Korean tech giant says its Kid Store now packs 900 apps specifically for children who have access to these devices, as long as parents approve their purchases with a password:
"Comprised of two tabs with a choice of content grouped by age and subject, Kids Store allows users to easily navigate through the available content. The content classification is as follows: 0-4 years old for preschool children, 5-6 years old for kindergarteners and 7 years old or more in primary school children. The content is also categorized by subject: learning, play, and story.In addition, the Kids Store brand zone provides premium content for children from providers such as, PBS Kids, Budge Studio, Cupcake Digital and Intellijoy and offers free gifts of over $50 to users, which can be used to purchase applications such as Toca Hair salon 2, Sprinkle Island and Pucca Funny World Tour exclusively. "
Meanwhile, don't expect to see a premium smartphone when the Samsung Galaxy Alpha is unveiled, GSMArena reports.
The device will not be coming with high-end hardware, as a Samsung developer console has reportedly confirmed it will only feature a 720p display - disappointing news for Sammy fans hoping for a top of the line iPhone 6 competitor. The display actually would be on-par with the one packed into the Galaxy S III.
Unlike the LTE-A model consumers may have hoped it would emulate, the Alpha reportedly packs a 720p screen, a fingerprint scanner, 32GB of storage (non-removable) and either an Exynos 5 Octa or a Snapdragon 800 processor. These specs, of course, are not flagship quality, to say the least:
"The Galaxy Alpha will be a step above the Galaxy S5 mini and will actually be sold as another watered-down variant of the Galaxy S5," SamMobile writes.
The Alpha will reportedly, however, arrive with the metallic design some have been pining for.
SamMobile also added that the device is packing a 4.8-inch display, and not a 4.7-inch as previously rumored.
