Livspace Acquires Dwll.in, Plans On Expanding In Western India

Livspace, one of India’ largest home design service provider and online marketplace for home interior design and décor has recently purchased Dwll.in, according to Business Standard. The acquisition took place more than a month after it bought DezignUp, an online community for designers and consumers, last March 2015. Although the amount was undisclosed, the agreement stated that the co-founders and the core team of Dwll.in will be joining Livspace.

The company was founded in 2012 by Anuj Srivastava, Shagufta Anurag and Ramakant Sharma. Its premise allows homeowners to course through thousands of ready-made designs for different parts of the home which they can select and purchase online. Clients have the option to have the design customized according to material, color, styles and other preferences. After a set amount of time, the item (for example, a kitchen system) will then be delivered in the client’s address. One unique feature of the website is it “Find by Apartment” category wherein clients can browse designs for specific apartment configurations.

Meanwhile, Dwll.in is a startup company established in 2013 by Parikshat Hemrajani and Pankaj Poddar. The e-commerce site serves as a venue for designers and clients to buy and sell personalized home décor items.

With its recent acquisition, Livspacewill eventually become one of the largest aggregators of interior designers, a primary source of design inspiration for residential projects and will boast of a large marketplace for home design products. Aside from this announcement, Livspace also revealed plans of tapping into the western region of the country as well as expanding into other metropolitan areas and Tier 1 cities.

In a joint statement by Hemrajani and Poddar, published in E27.co, the duo said, “The synergies of the technology, design strength and execution capabilities of Livspace along with the designer network and consumer-centric focus of Dwll.in’s platform will go a long way in revolutionizing the home design space.”

Currently, Livspace has built a community of more than 320,000 homeowners and the company sees a revenue of more than $10million in the following months.
