Create Your Own Holograms Will Soon Be Available for Mobile Users Through a New App Holo

Mobile users can create their own holograms soon via a new app called Holo by 8i. The company just announced their $27 million projects that will soon launch their 3D content-capture technology or holograms. A sneak peak of the new technology was introduced at the Sundance Film Festival last January and it allowed viewers to interact with an actual hologram.

Moviegoers that attended the Marjorie Prime premiere, starring Jon Hamm, held at the film festival were delighted to witness a recreated hologram of Hamm in the venue, Venture Beat reported. Moreover, the company is also scheduled to feature the movie Mars that stars Buzz Aldrin and hang out with his hologram figure at the SXSW in Austin, Texas happening next month.

And if that’s not enough, Fast Company has reported the hologram technology will be launching later this year for mobile phone users for everyone to experience. The app is called Holo developed by 8i, a mixed reality startup group that is known for their pioneer technology called volumetric capture. This state of the art equipment will make it easier for VR and AR content generators to bring realistic images into their projects.

In the long run, Holo aims to make their technology useful to everyone including celebrities, musicians, brands and everyone in every social media network. The company has announced they already have the funding they need which is led by Time Warner Investments and other participants namely Verizon Venture, Hearst Ventures, Baidu Ventures and more.

As for today, the company still needs to create the holograms in their Los Angeles stage where all their equipment and technology is set up. However, the company plans to bring it to cloud-based software that will make it available for anyone to use easily through their own smartphones and their own equipment and capture stage.
