Alessandro Butini Moves on to Interior Design

After getting his hands on hedge funds and as David Beckham’s rival in soccer team ownership, Alessandro Butini veers his focus on interior design.

From 1998 to 2012, Butini has been in the finance and business world from being a junior salesman at Solomon Smith Barney in London to being Chris Hohn’s right-hand at the Children’s Investment Fund Management. After which, he moved on to creating a Major League Soccer team in Miamia which he planned on partnering with the University of Miami. However, Butini decided not to pursue the said project after star football player David Beckham announced his plans to organize “Miami Beckham United.”

Earlier this year, Butini joined luxury interior design company Intarya. However, the Italian gentleman won’t be dabbling on creative work but rather heading the acquisitions and business development department. Butini will be in charge of looking for properties that can be developed by the firm and then sell it later. Butini will also find ways to increase the number of high-end clients who are looking for have their homes, yachts or private jets interior designed by Intarya.

Butini said, “We need to be opportunistic in life.” He adds, “I found a way of re-using my skills in an industry that is completely different. I hope I will have the opportunity of growing, learning and becoming successful in my new role. I do not envisage going back to finance anytime soon.”

When asked about this decision, Butini commented, “I left because of a lack of motivation and excitement in an industry that grew too much too fast and it is now coping with the aftermath of a strong earthquake.”

He feels that the skills that he learned while working with TCI, as well as with Morgan Stanley in both equities and equity derivatives, will be relevant and helpful in his new position with Intarya.

Butini said that his skills of being extremely detail-oriented, analytic in decision making and his knowledge in crating build out processes will be necessary in team playing and helping the business acquire leverage.
