'Silent Hills' News & Update: Creator Hideo Kojima Is Done Making Horror Games; 'It's Giving Me Bad Dreams'

Hideo Kojima, known for creating "Metal Gear" and working with Guillermo del Toro in creating the "Silent Hills" game featuring Norman Reedus. The acclaimed game creator has his fans waiting for another marvelous work of gaming horror to be announced under his name, however, Kojima has expressed that another horror game will not be happening.

Many hearts were broken when "Silent Hills" was canceled, especially since a terrifying demo version of the game was released to entice fans. Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro did a great job with the demo that featured "The Walking Dead's" Norman Reedus.

Since the game's cancellation, fans have been waiting for any news on Hideo Kojima's projects and it is known that the game creator is working on "Death Stranding." Despite its creepy trailer, "Death Stranding" is not a horror game, but it still features Norman Reedus which many gamers were pleased with.

Hideo Kojima told IGN in an interview that there is a reason why he won't be making any more horror games in the future and the reason is surprisingly simple. His reason for opting against making more horror games is the same as that of Alfred Hitchcock and Steven Spielberg. It is because he scares easily. The game creator also pointed out that is it easier for them to create things that are scary because they have an understanding of what scary really is.

Moreover, Kojima also said that his process to create horror games requires them to constantly imagine terrifying situations which result in a not so peaceful bedtime. "We're constantly imagining, like, terrifying situations so it ends up giving me bad dreams," he said.

GameRant reports that Kojima shared that an effective way to scare someone is to show something out of the ordinary. Something that is slightly strange, but will take some time to sink in. It should result in the person not knowing what is actually wrong with it and ends up confusing the mind. One thing is for sure, Kojima proved with his canceled "Silent Hills" game that the "unknown" element can really scare people.

For now, Hideo Kojima is opting against creating any more horror games and instead shared details about his current project, "Death Stranding." The game creator confirmed that the title will be available for PlayStation 4 and not the PlayStation 5 while a sequel is not far from impossible.
