Cape Cod Introduces The 'iPad House' To The Market

Welcome to Cape Cod. The land of beaches, lobster (or "lobsta" for the locals) and the Kennedy's. The houses are big, beautiful and expensive. Oh, and some are digital too.

What has been described as the "iPad House" on the Cape will be sold at an auction next month. It's one of the first houses to be turned into an "iPad House," though it had previously been coined a "Smart House."

What the title means is that there's an iPad installed in almost every room, which allows the homeowner to control the temperature, lights, sounds and even the security camera from every room, from another iPad.

The property sprawls over 1.32 acres. The house itself stands 10,279-square feet and overlooks the Nantucket Sound, East Bay and Centerville River (which you can enjoy while hanging out in the infinity pool outside). It's been on the market for about three years but has yet to be scooped up by a buyer, which isn't completely surprising, given the fact that the asking price comes to $13.9 million.

The Osterville estate is owned by Edward Breslow, an executive at EMC Corporation. He offers open houses at the property every Wednesday to Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

In addition to the iPad features, the house comes with a living room bar, complete with a refrigerator, icemaker and dishwasher.  The kitchen is combined with a family room and has a built-in eating area, fireplace and entertainment center. The dining room walls are sueded cloth to keep the volume from spreading throughout the house. The ceiling is a patina, and the floor is a replica of an Italian piazza.

The "iPad House" has a total of five bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bath. The property was designed by Doreve Nicholaeff, who earned his architecture degree at MIT.
