'Ant-Man And The Wasp' Director Tackles Hawkeye Issue; Filming Location, Starting Date Revealed

"Ant-Man and The Wasp" is the highly anticipated sequel Marvel fans have their eyes on, but fans should be taking their eyes away from a certain Hawkeye. The hit MCU film "Ant-Man" certainly won some fans over with its charming dialogue and clever quips.

Now the "Ant-Man" sequel faces its next obstacle, which is not its comedic script, but the internet itself. According to IGN, rumors broke out over the internet about a possible Hawkeye appearance in the upcoming "Ant-Man and The Wasp" film.

This rumor began spreading like wildfire, eventually catching the attention of "Ant-Man and The Wasp" director Peyton Reed. The director of the hit comedy "Yes Man", as well as the first "Ant-Man" film, took to Twitter to personally swat these Hawkeye rumors.

Reed explained that "Russians are swarm-tweeting" about Hawkeye's apparent appearance in his upcoming "Ant-Man" sequel. This is something that Reed outright denied by placing the hashtag "FakeNews" at the end of his tweet.

The source stated that the confirmation of Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner's absence in the upcoming "Mission Impossible 6" movie further fueled the flame of his "Ant-Man" sequel appearance. While one might be tempted to think that the "Ant-man and The Wasp" director could be hiding a potential surprise guest appearance, sources suggest otherwise.

According to ComicBook, hiding a film surprise by outright denying it doesn't exactly help director Reed's cause. This leads most to believe that the "Ant-Man and The Wasp" director is basically telling the truth, and Hawkeye's appearance is pretty much nil.

Regardless, the film will begin shooting by this summer, with or without Jeremy Renner's presence. Just as "Avengers: Infinity War" finishes its filming in Atlanta, the "Ant-Man" sequel will then take its place by filming on the same location. The "Ant-Man and The Wasp" release date is scheduled to hit theaters on July 6, 2018.
